Wayfinding for het Zandkasteel Amsterdam
Het Zandkasteel is a unique living and working environment in Amsterdam South-East, with various offices, meeting rooms, catering establishments, cafes, courtyards and a cinema. The monumental building is known for its special architecture.
It is our job to provide a suitable signage system. So that visitors can easily find their way around the building, despite the complex layout.
Wayfinding within a company is often the first impression visitors get. It is the first thing they see when they enter the room. An effective wayfinding system therefore helps improve the overall visitor experience and leave a positive first impression.
Unity through wayfinding
The variety of lines, colors and materials challenged us to find harmony amidst the diversity - a common thread, a connecting factor.
That connecting factor revealed itself as an octagon; the towers and 'squares' in the building all turned out to have an octagon shape. This geometric shape served as the basis for all signage that resulted from it.
The signage was printed on 1mm thick aluminum and cut with precision, resulting in a subtle and elegant look. A 5mm thick shadow board added the perfect dimension to the signage, bringing it to life.
Directional signs at Het Zandkasteel
With different towers, floors and house numbers, it was crucial to design a system that offered clarity without affecting the aesthetics of the building.
The end result? A smart wayfinding system that fits seamlessly with the unique appearance of Het Zandkasteel. Clear signs and strategically placed symbols make it a breeze for visitors to find their way through the building.
This signage system is not only practical, but also contributes to an enriching experience for all guests of Het Zandkasteel.
